Metal Shop

Cost: $4 shop fee + materials

The metal shop was originally developed to teach members silver smithing techniques. We now also teach working with other metals, although silver remains our primary focus.

We have 19 work stations in this shop. Each station contains a torch and hand tools for student use. In your first two classes, you will be taught how to make a ring and a pendant. Kits can be purchased for these two beginning classes.  You will also need a polished stone for each project; if you don’t have one you can purchase one from the club.

This shop requires a mandatory orientation which is offered each Thursday morning at 9:00am in the shop. Be sure to sign up for the shop orientation in advance to ensure space is available for you to attend. New members must have also taken the general orientation required of all new members.  It is offered Thursday at 8:00am in the Craft Barn. You may be able to take both orientations on the same Thursday. All people using this shop must be members.

Open sessions are offered to those who have finished their first two projects. A class schedule can be found in the club newsletter.
