You are about to enter the fabulous world of rock hounding, silver smithing, faceting, lapidary and friendships with others who enjoy gem and mineral education and excitement.
The Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem & Mineral Club (QRGMC) is a premier gem and mineral club in the US. We are perhaps the largest club in both membership and in the availablility of equipment for learning all about the various methods of turning rocks and gemstones into jewelry. Our location in Quartzsite Arizona gives us access to some of the best rock hounding territory in the country.
The club has dozens of instructors and staff to assist you in your pursuit of skills in many areas of jewelry making and lapidary interests. All of our instructors and staff are volunteers with sincere dedication and skills in their particular areas of participation in the club. Rock hounding trips are scheduled every week to ensure members have a collection of raw material to work with.
A mandatory orientation for new members is held every year, November through March, on each Thursday,at 8:00 AM in the multi-purpose room, located at 65 Ironwood St., Quartzsite, AZ (see our location). In addition, each major shop area sponsors an orientation class so you will be familiar with the tools and machinery associated with that shop. For the lapidary shop, the silver shop and the faceting shop, this orientation is required before a new member may use the shop. We also recommend that anyone who has not used a shop area for more than two years retake the orientation.
Many businesses support the Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem & Mineral Club by participating in our advertising program. We appreciate their support and ask our members to patronize them often. This has become one of the most important sources of revenue for the club. These businesses are advertised in our Newsletter and can be found by clicking on the Newsletter & Calendar tab. We thank all the businesses who have already taken advantage of this joint endeavor to make our members aware of the products and services they have to offer. If you are interested in becoming a business partner, please contact one of our Board members listed in the monthly newsletter.
So, take a virtual web tour of our club; and then, for the real fun, come join us as a member. If you have any questions not answered here or in the following pages, please contact Club President, Nancy Nichols, via email at: President@QRGMC.org
