Field Trips

QRGMC sponsors rock hounding trips, atv/side by side trips, and black light field trips each month. View the monthly newsletter for additional information.

Rock Hounding Field Trips:

Field trips for rockhounding are offered Tuesdays’ with check-in starting at 8:30am and departure at 9:00am. Our wagon master, Alva Richardson, displays the rocks you will be going out for along with slabs and finished cabs at club meetings on the Thursday before the trip, at 2:00pm. Be at the meeting to ask him questions about the material and you can find detailed information on point of departure and site difficulty by viewing the club newsletter.

For information contact Alva Richardson (503) 313-0205.

ATV/Side by Side Field Trips:

Joe Arbuckle is the club wagon master for our popular ATV/Side by Side desert trips. He will take you to the hidden treasures of the desert: old mines, monuments, ghost towns and cactus & flower retreats. Trips are scheduled on Fridays every other week. You can find information on these trips in the newsletter or Joe will tell you all about the trips at our club meeting on Thursday at 2:00 pm.

Black Light Field Trips:

The desert reveals some of its most interesting secrets under the UV light. Our black light field trips, led by Larry Clark, will give you a chance to experience this part of the desert as you view its florescent treasures.  Trips are planned once a month. Find out more about when they are offered in the newsletter.
